About the event
Join us for the official Opening Ceremony of the inaugural Old Colorado City Christkindlmarket as well as the tree lighting in Bancroft Park hosted by OCCA. Julie Baker with Fox21 will be emceeing this special occasion, while several dignitaries incl. Mayor Yemi Mobolade will give short speeches for the occasion. Inspired by the traditions of the original Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg Germany, the official Old Colorado City Christkind will read the official opening prologue for the event.
Patrons can take photos with the Christkind before and after the Opening Ceremony. The Christkind is a sprite-like child, usually depicted with blond hair and angelic wings. It is the traditional gift-bearer in Southern parts of Germany.
